Ride the drawing utensil
Sculpture, 2010.
Bike, graphite, wood, gloss paint.
122 x 170 x 60 cm.

A solid core of graphite and clay replaces the tires of a bike. By riding along, a representation of the environment can be made by leaving graphite lines. A double trace is left behind; a distorted set of lines is readable from any direction. It’s a vehicle that gives a direct input to my search for reality. The bike is a pencil to draw freely without given borders. A passing along a possibility to visualize the idea of freedom. Take the pencil from the paper and place it on the world. The material is used to investigate a drawing within the needs of expressiveness.
